Basically, add a checkmarkable option either in the edit menu or the bottom right menu that toggles between page drag and text mark/selection.
This will have benefits beyond simply marking text, as it can affect the usability of google maps, and maybe also drop down menus in pages, by allowing one to drag across without moving the page or clicking a potential root link.
